_The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to foster the child's own relationship with God using materials, song, art, and individual and communal prayer. Developed by Sofia Cavalletti, an Italian Hebrew scripture scholar, building on the work and methods of Maria Montessori, the Catechesis seeks to give children the guidance and vocabulary which enable them to become aware of their relationship with God and give expression to it. With the Catechesis each child learns to love God and others.

While traditional Catechesis environments include an Atrium, Providence incorporates the lessons of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd within the Montessori materials.  Emphasis is placed on the characteristics of God and prayer as a response to the lessons.  Short scriptures from the Bible, simple songs about the lessons, and original artwork as a prayerful reponse all help to build a strong foundation to given the children "a future and a hope."   

In addition to the Catechesis lessons, students and parents who are able attend a short chapel/prayer service monthly led by Eternity Church Pastor David Singh.
